Seoul Foreign School

master plan | seoul city, south korea

The K-12 private school overlooks Seoul City from a saddle on top of a hill surrounded by steep, wooded slopes. Focused on overall site design and placement of buildings and facilities, the master plan organizes the campus around a hierarchy of open spaces that promote diverse uses, unify the four separate divisions of the school, and give the school a distinct character. The design, based on a contemporary interpretation of Korea’s site and garden design heritage, incorporates elements derived from nature to establish native habitats appropriate for students and the school’s residential community.
