master plan & site design | washington, d.c.

Located on the West Campus of the former St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, D.C. St. Elizabeth’s campus, this new federal agency headquarters is located on a 176-acre site with 61 buildings, abundant open space, a Civil War cemetery, and stunning views of the surrounding area. The landscape structure, designed to reflect the surrounding eco-regions, incorporates multiple courtyards that help to integrate the 1.2 million square feet facility within the surrounding historic landscape, helps manage stormwater, and creates distinctive amenities for the building’s users. The sustainable directives for the project include development to achieve a “Gold” Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) rating.
