Constitution Gardens

National Mall | Washington, DC

Andropogon was a finalist in the design competition to reimagine the Constitutions Gardens on the National Mall. The team submitted a biophilic design that harnesses nature to transform the Gardens into a vision of healthy water, soil, foliage, habitat, and people, edged with an engaging urban interface. A vibrant lake is at the heart of the design where varied shorelines, paths, and boardwalks offer multiple ways to experience this water centric park. The lake and surrounding landscape become an adaptable, regenerative, living system requiring zero potable water.
