Washington University in St. Louis - Hillman Hall

site design | st. louis, mo

The new building Hillman Hall at the Brown School of Social  Work was designed to advance the school’s mission  for innovative graduate education. Andropogon teamed with Moore Ruble Yudell Architects to build a site that encourages the use of the outdoor environment and emphasizes health and wellness, diversity, energy efficiency, and environmantal sustainability. Active landscapes and rain gardens are used to capture, treat, and filter stormwater. Natural vegetation representative of the St. Louis region was planted to provide habitat and biodiversity and to minimize requirements for irrigation. Multiple gathering spaces and an ampitheater have been built to foster interaction and community building.
