how do you turn streets into parks?

UNIVERSITY CITY SCIENCE CENTER

As part of its commitment to gather together the best and brightest minds in the world of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math), The University City Science Center embarked to create a new urban core.  At the heart of the remodel is the Innovators Walk of Fame, a sculptural set of recognition pieces paying homage to the Center’s great figures and supporters throughout the years.

The site stretches between Market Street and Chestnut Street along what was previously 37th Street in West Philadelphia. Today it serves as a major mixing point between Drexel, U Penn, and the rest of the University City community. Andropogon teamed with Exit! to create a dynamic, mixed space that turns this previous throughway into a destination in itself, enticing users to sit and relax, mixing casually in the melting pot of University City.
